M&T Bank/Partners Trust Bank Fund Awards $50,000 to Support Ukrainian Resettlement Efforts

M&T Bank/Partners Trust Bank Charitable Fund (MTPT) of the Community Foundation has awarded $50,000 to The Center to support Ukrainian individuals and families resettling in the Utica area. The funds will provide basic needs and personal items to the refugees seeking assistance. Formerly known as The Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees, The Center offers a variety of services to newcomers and non-native English-speaking residents of the Mohawk Valley region.

The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties is conducting an online nonprofit survey to evaluate the needs of local organizations while learning more about the work they do, the people they serve, and how to best support them. This survey is part of the Community Foundation’s continuing effort to direct funding where it is most needed and will have the greatest impact.

Community Raises More Than $600,000 for Nonprofits During Mohawk Valley Gives

The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties hosted its first 24-hour day of giving, “Mohawk Valley Gives,” on Tuesday to benefit local nonprofits serving the two counties. The community came together and raised more than $600,000 in 24 hours from 1,800+ unique donors and over 2,800 individual donations. These numbers are expected to continue to climb as donations will be accepted until Friday, September 30, at givemv.org

The family and friends of Alivia “Livi” Paige Moylan continue to keep her memory alive through local community events, such as the first annual “Livi Strong” Soccer Fest held in June. A large crowd came together for the day to celebrate her life and love of soccer, and to benefit a scholarship fund established in her honor.

The Alexandra G. Kogut Memorial Fund was created by Becky and Mark Kogut in honor of their daughter, Alexandra, to support community organizations that share her passion and kindness. Each year, several grants are awarded through this donor-advised fund of the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, allowing Alexandra’s spirit to live on. Grants are awarded to programs and organizations that reflect Alexandra’s interests, including swimming and her love for children.

Hero Fund America Fund Announces 2022 Grant Recipients

Hero Fund America Fund (HFA), a field-of-interest fund of the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, today announced $15,000 in awards for first-responder organizations across the country. Each year the fund helps meet the education, training, lifesaving equipment and mental health needs of fire, emergency medical services (EMS), and law enforcement agencies in New York and other states.

Herkimer County Collaborative Launches Community Development Plan

A local government-nonprofit collaborative has announced the completion of a Herkimer County-wide community development plan that will address the county’s longstanding challenges and future growth opportunities. Under the plan, a nonprofit called Herkimer County Community Development Partnership will be created to formalize collaborative efforts needed to address economic challenges, while connecting and encouraging innovation in thriving but disconnected points of growth county-wide.
