Kayaking our way to a healthier community in Rome, NY
Health and wellness are a key part to any community. That’s why The Foundation and the city of Rome, NY partnered to bring the community a free kayaking and stand-up paddle board program.
Local residents and guests can now rent a kayak or stand-up paddle board. After brief instructions, residents are given new equipment funded by The Foundation. The equipment includes adult, youths and handicapped-accessible kayaks, as well as tandem kayaks, paddles and life jackets.
For those interested in more information, please contact the City’s Parks and Recreation Department at 339-7656. The program is completely free and runs Saturday’s through September 26th. The program runs from 10-3 with last boats going in the water by approximately 2:15.
“This is another opportunity for Rome residents to take advantage of our wonderful waterfront and trail systems,” said Rome, NY mayor Fusco. “We are so pleased that the Community Foundation chose to partner with us on this program. They are very passionate about health and wellness, and this program does a great job at getting people into the great outdoors.”
