Samaritan Counseling Center of the Mohawk Valley Launches Four New Funds with the Community Foundation

Samaritan Counseling Center of the Mohawk Valley has established a permanent partnership with the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties through the creation of four new funds to support, expand and continue its impact for years to come.

“I am excited for this partnership to help assist us in raising funds for several initiatives, allowing our organization to continue to provide mental health services to those who struggle financially, train and develop the next generation of therapists, and ensure that our organization has a safe working space to provide these services to individuals of all ages,” said Samaritan Counseling Center Executive Director James Davis.

The Samaritan Counseling Center, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary, works deeply with faith-based communities and partners with other nonprofit organizations to ensure that quality services are accessible to all people regardless of their ability to pay.

The Community Foundation will invest and administer the assets of the four funds as part of Samaritan Counseling Center’s long-term strategy:

• Samaritan Counseling Center of the Mohawk Valley Fund will address mental healthcare needs of the future, including breaking down financial barriers that prevent individuals from accessing healthcare and providing resources to improve and enhance the impact of the facility.
• NEXTGEN Fund seeks to elevate and support compassionate caregivers who embrace holistic approaches–integrating mind, body, spirit and community–while tending to the wellbeing of others.
• Silent Samaritan Fund aims to break down the financial barriers that prevent individuals from accessing essential mental healthcare services, ensuring that access to care is available to everyone and not reserved for the fortunate few.
• Samaritan Counseling Center Capital Fund will provide resources to improve and enhance the physical plant of the Center, creating a space where healing begins and embodies safety, warmth and acceptance. The vision is to ensure the building is an environment where clients are heard and embraced.
