Community Foundation supports rural toddler screening program
The Community Foundation has awarded a $16,000 grant to the Dolgeville Central School district in support of a screening and intervention program for rural infants and toddlers.
UTICA/DOLGEVILLE –The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc., has awarded a $16,000 grant to the Dolgeville Central School district in support of a screening and intervention program for rural infants and toddlers. The grant is made possible by The Foundation and the Harrison S. Sweet Memorial Fund, Martin-Gifford Memorial Fund and the Wesley and Marion Small Fund.
The program is a collaborative effort with the Herkimer County Health Department. Funding will support a registered nurse to screen for lead poisoning, register eligible children for pre-K programs, and provide resources and information to new parents. The grant builds on kindergarten registration and assessment efforts within the Dolgeville school district.
Since 1952, The Foundation has invested more than $52 million into Oneida and Herkimer counties. The Foundation partners with various nonprofits in order to make impactful investments in core areas of need, including economic development, education, health, and arts and culture.
