Community Foundation Launches the Helpful Harvest Giving Guide to Support Local Human Service Organizations

The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties has launched its Helpful Harvest Giving Guide, offering community members an opportunity to support local nonprofits addressing food insecurity across the Mohawk Valley.

Available at foundationhoc.org/harvest through December 31, 2026, the online guide highlights food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters serving Mohawk Valley residents. Donors can explore featured organizations, learn about their mission, and make contributions to help sustain these essential services. With a minimum donation amount of just $10, supporters can make an impact at any level and can give to multiple organizations in a single tax-deductible transaction, making it easy to support several causes through one convenient gift.

For organizations working to address food insecurity, the holiday season often brings increased demand for assistance. The Helpful Harvest Giving Guide offers Community Foundation fundholders, donors, and the broader community a meaningful way to directly support the nonprofits helping individuals and families access food. By highlighting a variety of local organizations in one place, the guide encourages community members to learn about critical needs across the region and invest in efforts that are making a difference every day.

The seasonal guide builds on the Community Foundation’s year-round Mohawk Valley Giving Guide, which connects donors with timely and current nonprofit needs throughout the region. The Community Foundation provides both resources at no cost to participating nonprofits or donors and does not retain a fee from donations made through the guides. Together, they represent another way that the Community Foundation connects local generosity with community needs and supports the organizations working every day to strengthen our region.
