Grant Application Deadlines


The Community Foundation views each of its investments and grants as a community partnership for maximum impact. Submitting a Grant Intake Form is the first step toward establishing this partnership. Grant applications may be submitted at any time. Most requests are reviewed quarterly, with the exception of those types indicated below. Click here to download the 2019 Grant Application Schedule. Please note, all emergency requests will be considered promptly.

TARGETED COMMUNITY GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

Education Enrichment Mini-Grants

This mini-grant application is to be used for grant requests for education enrichment programs for youths or adults that meet the following criteria:

  • Request does not exceed $10,000 for one program and organization is requesting funding for only one program.
  • All grant funds will be used for direct program expenses.

Youth Sports, Wellness and Recreation Mini-Grants

This mini-grant application is to be used to encourage and support community health and wellness through youth programs in Herkimer and Oneida counties.

Capital Campaign Support Grants

Hero Fund America Fund Grants

The Hero Fund America Fund supports projects and programs that meet the following criteria:

  • Program or project will directly support the education, training, and life-saving equipment needs of first responders
  • Request does not exceed $1,000 in a calendar year
  • All grant funds will be used for direct program expenses

Butnoris Fund Grants

The Butnoris Fund supports projects for environmental concerns in Oneida and Herkimer Counties, including but not limited to the preservation of wetlands, marshes, and woodlands and for programs related to education, appreciation, or the understanding of environmental issues.

Capacity Building Mini-Grant

Although capacity building can have many interpretations, for the purposes of this grant, we are defining it as something that “improves organizational capability and competence.” It is an activity or project with a goal of “strengthening the organizational platform upon which mission and program rest.” These activities can include strengthening one or more of the following: administrative systems, management, financial resources and/or governance.

Application Deadline: Applications are accepted throughout the year. For review in 2019, applications must be submitted by 11/29/2019.

Independent Senior Living

The Community Foundation is offering a new investment opportunity to help seniors residing in Herkimer or Oneida counties to live as independently as possible. Applications should be for new or enhanced programs that relate to a need identified in the Community Assessment of Senior Needs for Herkimer and Oneida Counties.
