Overview

Tapestries of Life has been serving border communities since 1987, providing children with food, education, and support when they need it most. By meeting basic needs and offering positive guidance, they help vulnerable children avoid homelessness, trafficking, and the pressures of the drug trade—giving them the opportunity to build safer, brighter futures.

In the early 1990s, 27 acres in Guadalupe, Mexico were donated to Tapestries of Life for the development of Casa de las Gemas (House of Gems), a children’s home for vulnerable and homeless youth. The campus welcomed its first 20 children in November 2024 and is designed to eventually serve more than 200. The site includes a 55,000 sq ft main dormitory along with a clinic, cafeteria, classrooms, playground, barbershop/hair salon, and warehouse. Their vision is to continue expanding the facility to serve more than 200 children—providing food, clothing, education, and care while raising each child to become a productive member of society.
