Career Exploration Fund
A donor-advised fund established to provide career exploration opportunities to local middle and high school students, with priority given to Mount Markham Central School District, Brookfield Central School District or the district's successors.
Overview
Many teens are unsure about what they want to do after leaving school, and even college students sometimes discover that their dream career isn’t what they expected. The Career Exploration Fund was created to assist student needs by providing opportunities to explore different career paths. Early exposure to real-world job experiences can be invaluable—helping students test their interests, gain a better understanding of various occupations, and discover the wide range of possibilities waiting for them.
To make a gift by check, please make checks payable to the Career Exploration Fund, mailed to the Community Foundation, 2608 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13502.

In the second and third quarters of 2025, the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties awarded more than $7.7 million, which is comprised of grants to nonprofits, scholarships to students, and support for those impacted by the June 2025 severe weather that impacted Clark Mills, the Town of Kirkland, and surrounding areas. Grants were awarded primarily in the areas of human services, arts and culture, education, and animals.
