Overview

Steve DiMeo left a legacy that permeates throughout the Mohawk Valley. Born in Utica in 1954, he developed a passion for public service at an early age. He was never hesitant to push boundaries that would bring seemingly unrelated segments of society together to develop creative projects. Steve had the uncanny ability to merge the fields of finance, development, politics, planning, education and social service to achieve his goals. His leadership skills allowed those goals to be recognized as ones that benefit the entire region and, in some cases, the state.

Steve’s love of work was only surpassed by his love of his family and the New York Yankees. He relished being with his grandchildren and was adamant about passing his appreciation of baseball onto them. He loved history and felt that it is important to understand our historical roots in order to build upon the past successes and avoid mistakes of the past.

Steve, along with his wife Dianne, felt deeply about giving back to the community. They instituted this value into their children who, along with their spouses, are committed to using the money raised by this fund to be used in ways that continue Steve’s influences throughout the Mohawk Valley, particularly as it relates to workforce and community development.

The DiMeo Family Fund is dedicated to enhancing workforce and community development initiatives within the Mohawk Valley. The mutual benefits of companies looking to strengthen their workforce, of local institutions supporting their communities and of potential employees/students accessing ways to break down barriers preventing them from succeeding can be achieved through the funds made available from this fund.
