Utica National Group donates $1 million to Community Foundation

A $1 million gift from the Utica National Group Foundation to The Community Foundation is the latest partnership to create lasting impact in the community.

The Utica National Group Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Utica National Insurance Group.

The Group will distribute at least $100,000 in grants into the community each year. Those grants will be given directly to organizations focused on addressing root cause issues to promote healthy families.

“We are thrilled to accept this $1 million gift from the Utica National Group Foundation to improve lives of those in need in our region,” said Foundation President and CEO Peggy O’Shea. “It is fitting that this is Utica National Insurance Group’s foundation as one of our founders was Utica Mutual’s first CEO, John L. Train. Mr. Train started us on our way to helping 1000s in Herkimer and Oneida counties, and now the Utica National Group Foundation continues that tradition of helping the community we all live and work in.”
