Habitat for Humanity recognizes Foundation partnership in Utica, NY ReStore startup

The Oneida County Habitat for Humanity recently recognized The Foundation with their Community Vision Award.

The award recognized a partnership with The Foundation last year for the start-up of ReStore, a donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances at a discounted rate. The money made through ReStore is used to fund the building of homes in Oneida County.

ReStores in other areas of the country have served as significant economic engines for those communities as they create jobs, contribute to a decrease in landfill waste and provide sustainability to the local Habitat for Humanitys, giving the nonprofit more freedom from relying on government dollars to operate.
