Utica NY children get music lesson thanks to grant

Many children receive music education and/or lessons in school; however, due to school budget cuts, schools do not have the ability to bring in professional clinicians for workshops or performances.

That’s where The Community Foundation came in with a $10,000 grant for the YMCA to provide music experiences for children who might not otherwise have the option. Children are exposed to music through professional and world-class musicians performing, as well as instructing.

In this video, The Observer-Dispatch highlights one of these workshops at General Herkimer Elementary School.

Kids need music and the arts…without the arts children willdo worse in Science and Math
As a Musican and a Degree in Music Ed I feel schools cutting these programs are irresponsible cost cutting…just my 2 cents
