The Community Foundation Names Director of Strategic Initiatives
John Monaghan has been named Director of Strategic Initiatives for The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties. In this role, he will design and implement an encompassing strategy for impact investment, including the Lead-Free MV Coalition, as well as advance the organization’s metric-related processes.
Lead-Free MV is the first of The Foundation’s impact investments, which seek to address long-standing community challenges by leveraging resources with like-minded partners for maximum impact. This investment model complements The Foundation’s traditional grantmaking process.
“Impact investment is a logical response to our community’s long-standing needs, one that will address them comprehensively,” said Alicia Dicks, president/CEO of The Foundation. “We’re pleased to have John join the team, helping to make real progress on these issues a reality with the help of our donors and other partners.”
Prior to joining The Foundation, Monaghan was a senior program manager for the New Energy Solutions department at National Grid in Waltham, Massachusetts. Monaghan was responsible for setting strategy and implementing programs related to National Grid’s “smart grid” and New York State’s “Reforming the Energy Vision (REV)” initiatives. Previously, Monaghan served as an intern for Congressmen Michael Arcuri (NY-24) and Walter Minnick (ID-1).
Monaghan received his Bachelor of Arts in public policy and political science at Hobart College in Geneva, NY, and also holds a graduate certificate in the business of energy from Union Graduate College in Schenectady, NY.
