A Homerun for Rome Baseball

The Rome Baseball Association, Inc.’s Little League players got a taste of the big leagues this summer when they played their first game under the lights.

The lights allow teams to play more often and host national and regional competitions. The association can now host players and their fans from all over the country. Those visitors make a viable impact on local business spurring incentive for economic development.

The lights were funded in part by grants from the Saunders Kahler, L.L.P. Charitable Fund and the Alfred & Elizabeth Duffy Fund, donor-advised funds of The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, Inc.

The Foundation also awarded an additional grant for $20,000 for fencing for a new field that will open this year.
